it's likely that you'll get in. about 90%.

2
Your SATs help a LOT. Your GPA might be problematic for some people (especially since with the economy getting into school can be harder with cuts and more people applying) However, with college applications, your sports, work and volunteer experience will only strengthen your application. You don't mention you have any awards. Did you get the honor roll at any point? Did you get any achievement awards in any sport, volunteer work or otherwise? Don't forget to add those to your application if you haven't applied yet! Don't stress out!! :) Good luck.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842536445776987645.post-89577682729137444182011-07-04T00:23:00.000-07:002011-07-04T00:23:00.332-07:00Which California State University or CSU have the best bursing program?Which California State University or CSU have the best bursing program?
San Jose and SF are good for nursing. If you want to go up to the UC level, UCLA is the best.
California State University offers best range of bursing program..
I go to SJSU and I just finished my freshman year. SJSU has a SUPERB nursing program; however, it's really hard to get into so you're going to have to do really well in the pre-nursing course (at least 3.7) and good scores (TEAS). I'm not too familiar with the SFSU nursing school, but I do know that SJSU's program is superior.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842536445776987645.post-31491430218763265432011-07-02T00:20:00.000-07:002011-07-02T00:20:00.913-07:00nursing school? northern california?nursing school? northern california?
I'm a sophormor majoring in business admin. i'm planning to join the National Student Exchange program, which allows me to study in colleges in othere states for one year. Here are several college in California that i can choose, San Jose State University, Sonoma State University, California State University, Chico California State Polytechnic University, Pomona California State University, East Bay California State University, Fresno California State University, Los Angeles California State University, Monterey Bay California State University, Northridge California State University, San Bernardino California State University, Bakersfield I think i might take one of the TOP 4 on this list , so, can anyone please give me some advice on which school i should take? or just anything you know about any schools above (pros and cons), i appreciate it. Much Thanks!! :)
My favorite on this list is CSU Monterey Bay. It's a FANTASTIC area.

2
If it were me, I would choose based on location and lifestyle you desire. I would avoid the following schools, because they are in areas which I would not want to stay for any length of time: Los Angeles, Northridge, San Bernardino, Bakersfield, Fresno, San Jose, Pomona. That leaves Sonoma, Hayward, Chico, and Monterey. I would go Monterey, then Sonoma, then Chico, and then Hayward.

3
San Jose State as a very good business program. The school is located near many successful companies and there are a lot more successful companies near by.

4
Ironically enough....you have them in a decent order. The Cal State system is strong so it comes down to areas and your specialty of preference (business). Too bad CSU Long Beach isn't on that list! Best of luck.

5
Here's what I know about some of the schools: San Jose State is academically one of the best in the system. It is in downtown with a good nightlife, is a diverse college, has somewhat decent sports (better than the others on your list beside Fresno), and although a lot of students commute from home, quite a few live around campus. Sonoma State is a beutiful campus, with apartment style dorms that are the main reason a lot of people go there. I haven't heard anything bad about it. Chico is widely known for being a party school, and not much beyond that. East Bay (formerly known as Hayward State) seems like a commuter school. Fresno and Bakersfield are ok schools, but the towns are very hot and depressing. Monterey is in a beautiful area, but it is a fairly new school and may not have very good academic programs. The Monterey Bay is also a short drive away from San Jose, so there isn't really a good reason to go there. So, I would recommend San Jose for academics and for all-around college experience, Chico for partying, and Sonoma for beautiful surroundings. I never lived in Southern California, so I don't know anything about the other colleges on your list.

6
Chico is known as a party school but there are ppl that are more academically inclined . Chico has a great business program its a somewhat rural area, it is your typical college town (if thats what you're looking for) and living there is much less expensive than sonoma, hayward, san jose. If you want city life (and great internships) San Jose, East Bay & LA are top choices.

7
None of them are exactly super prestigious universities. So, if you're going to be there for one year, I'd pick one based on its location so you can do stuff outside of school. My 4 favorites would be San Jose State, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State LA, and Cal State Monterey Bay. San Jose State would let you check out the Bay Area. Nice place, altho I much prefer San Francisco and even the East Bay over San Jose and the rest of the South Bay. San Jose State has the only american football team that's worth watching out of that list. They play some decent schools. Pomona, while a boring area, is still in the greater Los Angeles area. It's also a nicer, and more safe area than where CS LA is located. CS LA is in the heart of LA. Bad area, but if you leave the immediate area, you can experience the best LA has to offer. Monterey is beautiful, but you'll have to love nature and/or golf. Can get boring there otherwise if you're not the outdoorsy type. Pretty isolated too. A good alternative to Cal Poly Pomona or CSLA would be Long Beach State or Cal State Fullerton. Not sure why they're not on your list.

Beyond just the where the degree is earned it is always good to get some experience while working on your degree. Many businesses are hesitant to hire someone for the positions they would want with a MBA without some experience. It also depends on your version of a "great" job. Do you want the most possible money? A job with good benefits and flexibility? Do you want relocate or stay close to home? All of these questions would factor in. An MBA degree is fairly popular among employers and students so do something to set yourself apart from the crowd no matter which school you choose.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842536445776987645.post-38269108053793448552011-06-20T00:00:00.000-07:002011-06-20T00:00:02.718-07:00What are the best civil engineering schools in California? What are the best civil engineering schools in California?
Sorry to be a snob, but the reputation of the school has a lot to do with your future. Really does. So skip the state colleges. Cal Poly is pretty good, but the Universities have the clout. Davis is good. My son just graduated from there in CE. Housing is very good, cost of living is reasonable. Good town. Berkeley is good, but housing is awful. City politics make the place a laughing stock. And, sorry to the other poster but Harvey Mudd is only known to a few that graduated from there. No Nobel Laureates.
My daughter has been accepted to various California universities and has narrowed it down to San Jose State and San Diego State for International Business or Marketing (Business). Does anyone have any information about which school would be better for business-related jobs (including global marketing)? She is already bilingual in Spanish, having been a foreign exchange student in South America. Anyone with personal or professional experience with either school? She is going to attend a California State University because the degrees are better-designed toward a career right after college, rather than having to go to graduate school right after college -- she is an excellent student and wants to use her bilingual/bicultural skills and gain business/marketing skills. Feedback is appreciated -- thank you!
San Jose State has a pretty decent international business program from what i have heard. Our school has some study abroad programs that your daughter might be interested in. SJ is more known for its technical majors tho such as engineer, and MIS but there overall business program is pretty good. I dont know much about San Diego State but I know pretty much all UC and State college in CA all have credited business programs so they are all good.
I am currently a student a SJSU and I do not know much about San Diego State other than the fact that it has a really good Marine Biology Program. As far as business school goes, SJSU COB(college of business) offers great degrees in accounting, finance and management information system. We are very well networked with the tech companies in silicon valley as well as the financial institutions here in downtown san jose. I am not familiar with our international business program but we do have a very diverse student body. Regardless of which school she plans to attend, it would be very beneficial to join some sort of business orgainization on campus. Here is a list of business student orgs here on our campus: http://www.cob.sjsu.edu/cob/5_STUDENT%20SERVICES/s_organizations.html I hope this helps. best regards, timUnknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842536445776987645.post-75116298393785622892011-06-16T23:59:00.000-07:002011-06-16T23:59:00.559-07:00Does this sound like a good book?Does this sound like a good book?
Okay the day of the murder if the child isn't home on time the parents would alreay be calling the cops. So i recomend maybe having a closet in the classroom that Mrs. Franklin makes her bad students go in and she tortures them until they obey her. She threatens to kill the students if they tell on her. She should look normal on the outside and all of the other teachers think she is a great teacher since all of her students are passing with straight A's in fear of being sent to the closet. A group of students in the class should rebel against her and she should one of them to the closet and torture one of them until he or she dies. That should be the climax of the story. The rest of it could be Mrs. Franklin on the run or better yet goes crazy and locks her students in the classroom and sets it on fire and the students must find a way out. The story should be set in Mrs. Franklin's POV and a couple of the students. That would make it interesting. Hope i helped!!!
Here's the lowdown. Get a degree in Biology. Yes your school matters but not as much as your GPA. I would try to do your undergrad in at least a UC school. UCI has a great BIO program. You do not need to go to graduate school. You will apply to dental school directly from undergrad. You will have to take the DAT test which is the most important part of you getting into a dental school. Every dental school has different standards but if you want to go here in CA you'll have to score pretty high. USC, UCSF, Loma Linda, UOP, the UCLA have the best dental programs in order from best to worst. USC has the same teaching method as Harvard, called PBL or Problem Based Learning. This isn't teaching from a text book, rather it is more self learning by working on real life cases and then meeting with professors to go over results. Also there is a lot of hands on dentistry. Whereas UCLA has very little hands on dentistry and is very book based. The cost difference is significant as UCLA is about $100 K cheaper than USC. Your interview and essay will also be a big part of what schools will offer you a slot. BTW. I would really try for a UC school for undergrad rather than a school like San Jose State. The interviewers have a higher opinion of UC schools and frankly their opinion matters. Lastly, there is no 'internship' for dental school. If you have any more questions please ask.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842536445776987645.post-17272693209340392782011-06-12T23:56:00.000-07:002011-06-12T23:56:00.953-07:00Between Stratford and Challenger Middle Schools in the California Bay Area, which one is better?Between Stratford and Challenger Middle Schools in the California Bay Area, which one is better?
Here's my situation: I'm 22 and graduated from a reputable college a few months ago. Now I'm living at home and in the process of applying to professional school. I regret not making many friends in college, because now I'm stuck at home by myself, sad and lonely. I found a job as an SAT tutor that pays $25/hr, which is great, but I won't have the chance to meet new people or make new friends, aside from the high school students who I will be tutoring alone in their homes. So, I'm thinking of getting another job in addition to the SAT job where I can meet more people my age. Where should I work? Starbucks? My concern is I have a degree and shouldn't settle for minimum wage. Or maybe I should for the purpose of meeting people? Or maybe at a restaurant where I can earn tips? Any suggestions? I live in San Jose, California. Thanks :) I majored in Psychology and I'm applying to medical school.
You don't state what your degree is in, but your first choice in a job should be in what you majored in.....that would also look good on your applications to colleges for your masters. If you can't find one in your soon to be occupation, and the amount of money is not a concern, find a "fun" job......something you will enjoy doing, will meet interesting people and will fit with your schedule..........have some fun......you're young.........and good luck..........

go to clubs

3
That's a personal desicion but I wouldn't work at Starbuck's to meet people. Just go hang out there maybe. You'd be able to spend more time meeting people if you weren't working. Try to join some kind of group that suits your interests, you'll already have things in common w/ these people and find it easier to start conversation.

Hell no! Just like the millions of us who work very hard for ha we want u prob wrked very had to get that far, what did u study? Think more of yourself than that....
Hmmm... Seems like you always had a hard time making up your mind. Don't worry about working at a regular place like Starbucks. Go for it. You can sure meet some people your age, but they probably won't have a degree like yours. You can still relate and have fun, go out with them. But be careful and don't lose coarse and ruin your life with the bad crowd. Applebee's, maybe? The world is not going to end in a couple of seconds. Take a seasonal break and work at a coffee shop and see if you like it. A lot of professional, hard-working students begin at places like these because they need fast cash to re-pay loans, build credit, and grow independently. Good luck!

It would be a great idea to get a part-time job. It doesn't have to be a cafe or resto although these establishments will give you the opportunity to interact with colleagues, customers, and prospective employers and clients. Try getting a temp job in a field that's related to your course. Think of it as getting experience and honing your skills instead of 'a minimum wage job.' A part-time job won't only pay the bills, it will look good in your resume because your prospective full-time employer will see that you made feasible use of your time.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842536445776987645.post-34045180449612473392011-06-08T23:51:00.000-07:002011-06-08T23:51:00.105-07:00What places hire at 14?What places hire at 14?
Cal State LA I'm not sure which area would be best for after school/getting a job/using the networking of the school, and i'm open to other schools in california that have an out of state tuition comparable to these schools.
Basketball is a great sport to get into, and is the second best indoor sport (and the best indoor sport shouldn't have spectators though) Contact the local YMCA/YWCA or the Boys and Girls clubs of America, check if they have any lessons. Look in the yellow pages for some real basketball camps, or programs
Basketball is a great, and very fun sport for 10 year old boys. I think it is a great idea. Here is a # for San Mateo Youth BB Association: (650) 571-1232. Also check out this link to Camden Youth Sports in San Jose: http://www.sanjoseca.gov/prns/centers/CC/Camdencc/Camden_Sports_Child_Youth1.asp. Maybe one of these can help you with what you are looking for. Hope this helps. Coach Tim http://www.simply-youth-basketball.com
LONG BEACH? Is NOT cheap. And not generally too safe. It's one of the more dangerous cities in CA. Although there are some safe parts there...You will be paying more for rent (ATLEAST 1200/month in a not amazing area). San Jose is great...It's near San Francisco, a short drive to the ocean, etc. It's not really cheap here either. I live near San Jose and work in San Jose and I pay $1580/month + all utilities for a 790 sq ft. 1 bdrm! Alameda is the county I live in...I don't know much about the town itself. And I don't really know much about Santa Ana either. It is safer in Northern CA, but more expensive near SF. This state is NOT cheap. I guess your best bet for safety might be San Jose. I like the city enough...Not too much here...But lots within driving distance.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842536445776987645.post-16170485000279463522011-05-26T23:45:00.000-07:002011-05-26T23:45:00.880-07:00what are some vine plants that i can plant in this season? plant by this february?what are some vine plants that i can plant in this season? plant by this february?
Hi I'm kelsey I'm a 13 year old girl. My school has a week which we call MEA week where the teachers have workshops all day everyday and we get the whole week off. My dad is going to San jose California the Thursday before MEA. It has been my dream to attend either Stanford or cal since I was 6. My dad went to cal and he said he wanted to show me the campus. I'm in eigth grade and play varsity volleyball at a large school. I know for sure I want to play volleyball at cal or Stanford. Over the week we r there cal is playing Stanford in volleyball at stanford. We r staying at my great uncles beach house which is a half an hour away from stanford. It works out so perfect even my dad said it would be fun. I would have to fly alone but I have done it before. How do I convince him to let me go?! I want this so bad. I'm a very determined girl and I am about to cry I want to go so bad! Thank u for all of ur help!
Well, don't cry lol. You want to convince him that you're mature. And make sure you emphasize that you want to go so you can check out the school and not for fun necessarily.. Maybe even contact the school ahead of time and try to set up a tour or a meeting with a couselor or something to talk about the school. Those kind of things will show him that your mature and serious about your future and that this trip will help you to achieve your goals.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842536445776987645.post-24080740944964425942011-05-22T23:26:00.000-07:002011-05-22T23:26:00.393-07:00Where can i take fashion design classes?Where can i take fashion design classes?
I'm not sure about which schools there, but I'm SURE you can check out the local college classes, they always have summer programs for students of all ages. If you take a regular college class though, you'll probably have to have some pre-requisite drawing classes already. Though sometimes, some professors will admit you if you have a portfolio that shows you are good at what you do, otherwise, I'd recommend the drawing classes, I think beginning drawing was the best art class I ever had, even though I was already an established artist when I started school & graduated with a BFA, it was still the best class.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842536445776987645.post-32908394438390747442011-05-20T23:38:00.000-07:002011-05-20T23:38:00.662-07:00Do I need to get permission to hold an event at a public park?Do I need to get permission to hold an event at a public park?
I'm planning an event sort of thing for september, and I need a place to host the event. I was looking for community centers when I thought of parks. I was hoping to be able to use a park next to an elementary school...and I don't know if I need to get permission from anyone (like the city). I know people usually have birthday parties at parks, but this isn't so personal. It's supposed to involve the community... And for anyone who might know the park, I'm thinking about Northwood Park in San Jose, California.
I'm a high school junior looking for an opportunity to work with a local newspaper in San Jose, California; I've already written for and been an editor of my high school newspaper for 2 years already. Is there any opportunity for me to find an internship with a newspaper? I want to expand my interests in journalism outside of school, so I'm planning to quit my school's journalism program in favor of a more upper-tier program, such as, perhaps, taking the chance to be a staff writer in my community newspaper, such as the San Jose Mercury News. Any idea on where I could acquire such an internship? Preferably during next school year. Thanks!!
I charge my babysitter $22 an hour for my two kids and she has all she needs and if she needs to go to the store i always leave extra money with my kids and my car so incase something should happen or they would like to get something to eat.And i work from 8a.m to 8:30 p.m
For an infant under 6 months, in Maine where we live, it's about $275 a week, full time. What is that about 55 bucks a day?? I'd go on the internet or call other local daycares and see how much they charge. Also, licensed daycares can charge more, but a one on one childcare for a baby is pretty awesome! So I think you should be paid on the higher end.

4
minimum $250 40 houres.

5
Surely not less than $50/day, that'd be a joke. Seeing that you have a lot to offer and you're located in California, I'd say you could easily get away with more. Maybe $65ish? I'd do my homework and call a few places in your area to see what they charge.

6
Check your local paper for other day care providers. Give them a call and ask how much they are charging. Generally infants are more than toddlers.

I am currently caring for an infant from 8am-5pm, five days a week and the family pays me $100 a day. That's the norm for my area. If you want, you can check out www.sittercity.com . It's a great website that helps babysitters, nannies and parents to connect. They also have a great section called tips and resources that helps decide pay for your area. It's called the Rate Calculator. You put in your zip code, years experience, number of children and some other factors. It gives you an hourly rate that fits your area and job requirements. Good luck! -BritUnknownnoreply@blogger.com
