High school journalism internship?
I'm a high school junior looking for an opportunity to work with a local newspaper in San Jose, California; I've already written for and been an editor of my high school newspaper for 2 years already. Is there any opportunity for me to find an internship with a newspaper? I want to expand my interests in journalism outside of school, so I'm planning to quit my school's journalism program in favor of a more upper-tier program, such as, perhaps, taking the chance to be a staff writer in my community newspaper, such as the San Jose Mercury News. Any idea on where I could acquire such an internship? Preferably during next school year. Thanks!!

I'm 16, I drop out on the first day of school, how can I drop out, do I go to the main office or to my counselor. I live in San Jose, California, and how can I get my GED. And don't tell me to stay in school, I got my reason.

For an infant under 6 months, in Maine where we live, it's about $275 a week, full time. What is that about 55 bucks a day?? I'd go on the internet or call other local daycares and see how much they charge. Also, licensed daycares can charge more, but a one on one childcare for a baby is pretty awesome! So I think you should be paid on the higher end.

I live in San Jose, California. When I was 16 I had a job at a school and got paid monthly. I didn't know then anything about tax returns. Can I still get my money back?

If you have a W-2, you can still file.

You can still file your return and get a refund (if entitled to it). The statue of limitations on refunds is 3 years, so you will need to file your return by 4/15/09 to still claim the refund.

Go to ires.gov, pint off a 2005 1040EZ, put the information from your W-2 on it, and mail the return to the IRS. They will send you a refund if you have one do, or bill you for tax due, which would probably be unlikely in your case.

why do minorities in california hate white people?
im a filipino here in california and i got a big thing for white girls especially the ones in Europe but here in California many people makes fun of white people, for example when i told my classmate that i want to live in europe or russia he said that there is too many white people there.I wear here in san jose, california there is rarely white people in my school which is why there is a lot of gangs but there is a lot of white adults sorry but i dont know how to make my avatar asian

i live in california and in our area (san francisco, san jose, plao alto.....) we have some great football teams including De La Salle which has been the number one football team in the country. But can Texas football compete??

I think Texas takes their high school football to an insane level. Even though I think it is highly unhealthy how they treat their high school athletics, I think they might be better based on their emphasis. Besides, what else are they going to do in Texas?

Is this a serious question? Texas High School Football is almost as big as college football is to Alabama! You go to a gas station in Texas and they sale little booklets on high school football teams. Rosters, coaches, past records, etc. This is no contest. A better question would be if Texas was better than Alabama, Florida, or Pennsylvania high school football. Where did California come from?

I've heard people talking about this. Honestly, I have to believe Texas high schools have more tradition in football, though they may not be better. Despite the talent of the players, football in Texas is serious business and I doubt any other state pays as much attention to it as Texas does. And most of the high school football movies are set in Texas. :D

I feel that the difference in Texas and Florida is outside the lines. Talented players are abundant in both states but the Texas schools generate far more student and community support and participation than do the Florida schools. Drill teams, bigger bands, more cheerleaders, and far more community involvement are a way of life in the Lone Star state.

Can you believe this news from California State University?
CBS 5 news just reported less than 50% students in California state university San Jose own a laptop because of financial burdens. Considered San Jose is richest metro area and capital of silicon valley and a new laptop can be as low as $400. I think 95% university students have a laptop, how about your school?
