Try calling around to tattoo shops, Most shops offer apprenticeships and train people from scratch on how to tattoo, Just gather up a few sketches and go form shop to shop asking if they offer apprentice ships, If one says no they might just have a full schedule so try another, If you finally land one you can expect to draw flash make stencils for tattoos being done, Answer phones and spend lots of time watching other artists, learning techniques and Also learning about cross contamination and sterilization, Some tattoo shops may charge for an apprenticeship but in most cases its paid off over time, Hope it helps and good luck =)

To add to the excellent advice above... It also helps if you bring in a large portfolio of your work. How you generate this portfolio is up to you - via school & classes, on your own, the result of a two, four or more year degree, whatever. Most artists would prefer to apprentice those with at least some demonstration of talent and skill. Showing where your strengths are and your interests will also help you find an artist who's best to get you into the field. If you want to do Japanese styles, for example, you'll probably be less interested in someone who specializes in portraits.
